Peruvian News Agency PRENSAPERU.PE https://prensaperu.pe Twitter: @prensaperupe In order to position the public spaces of the historic center of the city as centers of cultural exchange, the Plazuela de las Artes del Teatro Municipal de Lima reopens its doors for the presentation of films and documentaries in the open air through the Cine en la Plazuela program.

For the Creole month (this October 15 and 29) two Peruvian productions are scheduled. And in November a selection of Latin American cinema will be presented. The entrance to the venue (Jirón Ica 377, Cercado de Lima), will be free and will have a maximum capacity of 196 attendees.

“My Beloved High Barriers” by director Jimmy Valdiviezo, is presented October 15 at 7 p.m. The documentary tells five stories about dignity in the capital of Peru: a neighborhood leader looking for someone to leave the post of her complex work, a tour guide cultivating architectural heritage and Creole music, a former criminal rescued by the evangelical church, a teenager Afro-Peruvian music dancer forced to emigrate and a Fine Arts muralist, son of Andean migrants, try to get ahead in Barrios Altos, the most feared –but also most beloved– historic neighborhood in Lima.

For its part, on October 29 at 7 p.m. “Fight Reyes: Letter to Heaven” by director Javier Ponce will be presented. The documentary makes a parallel between the life of Lucha Reyes and the most important political and social events from her birth in 1936 to her death in 1973. Lucha Reyes is the most important singer in Creole music. He was born from a very poor home and succeeded despite great limitations. He managed to overcome four of the great obstacles imposed by the society of that time. His life represents a change of social and political epoch.

The entrance of the public will be made in order of arrival from 6 p.m. until the capacity is completed and the distance of 1.5 meters between the attendees will be maintained. In addition, the mandatory use of a double mask will be requested, the temperature will be taken upon admission and the use of alcohol to disinfect the hands.

With these activities, the Lima commune seeks to provide a greater cultural offer and promote identity among citizens in a safe way in the face of the health emergency.
