La restauración del monumento al libertador se encuentra en la plaza que lleva su nombre: Bolívar y forma parte de los trabajos de recuperación de esculturas públicas que realiza ProLima en conmemoración por el bicentenario de la independencia de nuestro país.
Los trabajos de restauración consistieron en lo siguiente: liberación de diversas capas de pintura, limpieza de suciedad artificial, y restauración y pulido del mármol que adorna al monumento.
Este monumento a Simón Bolívar está compuesto por una base y pedestal hechos de mármol y una escultura de bronce del libertador montado sobre su caballo con más de cuatro metros de alto.
Esta obra fue inaugurada en 1859 por el mariscal Ramón Castilla y estuvo a cargo del artista italiano Adamo Tadolini.
A la ceremonia de develación del restaurado monumento también asistieron el gerente general de Prolima, Luis Martin Bogdanovich, así como los especialistas que durante varias semanas han trabajado en el remozamiento de esta imponente escultura.

The restoration of the monument to the liberator is located in the square that bears his name: Bolívar and is part of the recovery work for public sculptures carried out by ProLima in commemoration of the bicentennial of our country’s independence.
The restoration work consisted of the following: release of various layers of paint, cleaning of artificial dirt, and restoration and polishing of the marble that adorns the monument.
This monument to Simón Bolívar is composed of a base and pedestal made of marble and a bronze sculpture of the liberator mounted on his horse more than four meters high.
This work was inaugurated in 1859 by Marshal Ramón Castilla and was in charge of the Italian artist Adamo Tadolini.
The unveiling ceremony of the restored monument was also attended by the general manager of Prolima, Luis Martin Bogdanovich, as well as the specialists who have worked on the renovation of this imposing sculpture for several weeks.
