En dicho acto, que fue presidido por el Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, Embajador Allan Wagner Tizón, y contó con la presencia del Ministro de Cultura, señor Alejandro Neyra Sánchez, y la Encargada de Negocios de la Embajada del Reino de Suecia en el Perú, señora Ewa Nunes Sorensen, así como la participación virtual del Alcalde de Gotemburgo, señor Axel Josefson, el señor Canciller hizo entrega formal al Ministro de Cultura de 57 piezas textiles pertenecientes a la colección Paracas-Gotemburgo.
Dichas piezas textiles, pertenecientes al Patrimonio Cultural del Perú, retornaron a nuestro país el pasado 25 de junio, gracias al trabajo conjunto realizado entre la Cancillería, el Ministerio de Cultura y las autoridades municipales de la ciudad de Gotemburgo.
Los textiles retornados, que cuentan con más de dos mil años de antigüedad, forman parte de una rica colección, compuesta por 140 piezas que incluye: mantos polícromos, camisas, bandas, esclavinas y diversos fragmentos, finamente confeccionados. Estos valiosos bienes culturales, que se encontraban en el Museo de las Culturas del Mundo de la ciudad de Gotemburgo, Suecia, provienen de la Necrópolis de Wari-kayán, descubierta y estudiada por Julio C. Tello en 1927.
Esta entrega constituye el punto culminante de un largo proceso, que se consolidó en 2014 con la suscripción del Acuerdo Interinstitucional entre el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de la República del Perú, el Ministerio de Cultura de la República del Perú y la Ciudad de Gotemburgo para la restitución de la Colección Karell de Textiles Paracas.

The returned textiles, which are more than two thousand years old, are part of a rich collection, made up of 140 pieces that includes: polychrome cloaks, shirts, bands, capes and various fragments, finely made. These valuable cultural assets, which were in the Museum of World Cultures in the city of Gothenburg, Sweden, come from the Wari-kayán Necropolis, discovered and studied by Julio C. Tello in 1927.
This delivery constitutes the culminating point of a long process, which was consolidated in 2014 with the signing of the Interinstitutional Agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Peru, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Peru and the City of Gothenburg for the restitution of the Karell Collection of Paracas Textiles.
