Poco a poco las camas UCI empezaron a ser ocupadas, en mayor porcentaje, por el grupo de adultos jóvenes que empezó a desplazar, porcentualmente, al grupo de adultos mayores de 60 años a más.

En lo que va del mes de julio 2021, aunque estamos en la curva de descenso, el 80 % de camas uci está ocupado por este grupo etario entre 30 y 59 años, aquellos que se pensaban más fuertes físicamente para enfrentar la enfermedad. Los meses más críticos fueron marzo y abril del 2021 con mil adultos internados por mes.

En lo que va de toda la pandemia, las cifras indican que 9 568 adultos de 30 a 59 años fueron internados en UCI COVID en los hospitales y Villas de EsSalud, mientras 7 620 fueron los adultos mayores, 484 jóvenes, 82 adolescentes y 141 niños.

El Dr. Richard Requena, director de la Villa Essalud Mongrut, señalo que EsSalud incrementó a 11 mil 442 las camas hospitalarias, de 199 a 1383 las camas de Cuidados Críticos (intensivas e intermedios), y reforzó el sistema de ato flujo para enfrentar la emergencia sanitaria.

Agregó que, en lo referido a la atención de pacientes leves y moderados, se pusieron en marcha 36 centros de atención covid o villas, que representaron un total de 6614 camas en Lima (Villa Panamericana, Villa Mongrut, Villa San Isidro Labrador, Villa Rebagliati ), Loreto, Piura, Cajamarca, Arequipa, Huánuco, Lambayeque, Madre de Dios, Moquegua, Apurímac, La Libertad, Tacna, Tumbes, Áncash y Ucayali.

En estos centros se logró la recuperación de un total 195 mil 267 pacientes, entre hombres y mujeres, que regresaron a casa tras vencer la temida enfermedad gracias a la atención recibida por el personal de salud.
