Previamente en la Casa de la Moneda el jefe de Estado de la estrella solitaria Chile, destacó las relaciones históricas y de países vecinos, Chile y Perú poseen una larga e importante relación bilateral. Perú es hoy el segundo mayor socio comercial de nuestro país en la región y el segundo destino de los capitales chilenos, enfatizó.

Debemos señalar que las relaciones entre Perú y Chile hacen referencia a las relaciones internacionales entre dichas repúblicas. Ambas naciones se encuentran ubicadas en la parte occidental de Sudamérica y comparten una frontera terrestre de 171 km de longitud, siendo la de menor extensión para ambos países.

En el ámbito internacional, ambos países son miembros plenos de Organización de Estados Americanos (OEA), la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (Cepal), el Foro para el Progreso de América del Sur (Prosur) y la Organización de Estados Iberoamericanos para la Educación, la Ciencia y la Cultura (OEI).
