El moderno equipamiento son Cámaras de Alto Flujo (CAF), los cuales brindan asistencia respiratoria no invasiva a pacientes hospitalizados con la Covid-19 que necesitan oxígeno, evitando que agraven su salud y sean derivados a las áreas críticas para ser intubados y conectados a ventiladores mecánicos.

El Wayrachi permite brindar altas concentraciones de oxígeno, a una velocidad de 60 a 70 mililitros por segundo, lo que permite regular la frecuencia respiratoria y ayudar al paciente con la oxigenación.

El titular de EsSalud agradeció el importante donativo, que contribuirá a brindar atención oportuna a pacientes pediátricos, población en riesgo ante una tercera ola de contagios a causa de las variantes Delta y Mu.

“Saludo la donación de estos equipos de última tecnología. En total 800 de estos dispositivos médicos fueron donados a EsSalud y el Ministerio de Salud, que nos permitirá afrontar una tercera ola de contagios, en especial a los niños que serían los más afectados”, anotó el doctor Carhuapoma tras recibir el equipamiento médico en la Sede Central de EsSalud.

A su turno, los ingenieros peruanos Daniel Akamine y Fernando Sato, quienes construyeron los Wayrachis, informaron que estos equipos han sido adaptados para brindar asistencia respiratoria a los menores, quienes se estima serían los más afectados ante la llegada de nuevas variantes.

“El gran requerimiento del año pasado fueron adultos, sin embargo, ahora el área de pediatría nos contactó porque aparentemente este virus afectará ahora a menores de edad.
