Con el fin de mejorar las condiciones del transporte público masivo en beneficio de los ciudadanos de Coronel Portillo, Cajamarca y Huancayo, el Ministerio de Transportes y Comunicaciones (MTC) suscribió convenios marco de cooperación interinstitucional con las autoridades de las municipalidades provinciales de dichas localidades.

A través del Programa Nacional de Transporte Urbano Sostenible (Promovilidad), el MTC trabaja de la mano con los gobiernos locales para que las personas cuenten con un servicio de transporte público de calidad, que reduzca los tiempos de viaje, incremente la seguridad vial, mejore el acceso de la población a las áreas de empleo y prestación de servicios y reduzca la emisión de gases contaminantes.

“Con la firma de estos convenios de cooperación, el MTC cumple con la responsabilidad de apoyar a los gobiernos locales bajo el ámbito de competencia de Promovilidad, a fin de mejorar el transporte terrestre de personas y de carga en las principales ciudades del país, mediante la promoción de la movilidad sostenible”, afirmó la viceministra de Transportes, Verónica Cáceres.

El director ejecutivo del Promovilidad, Pablo Félix Luciani, informó que, con este acompañamiento a las autoridades ediles, el MTC está forjando los pilares sobre los cuales deben construirse las ciudades: infraestructura, educación y marco legal.

“Mejoraremos la calidad de vida de las personas enfocándonos en la movilidad, la sostenibilidad y la sociodiversidad, reduciendo los tiempos de viaje y fortaleciendo la seguridad vial para reducir accidentes y gestionando el tránsito y el transporte en cada ciudad”, precisó.

En la ceremonia de suscripción del convenio participaron el alcalde provincial de Coronel Portillo, Segundo Pérez Collazos; su gerente municipal, Edwin Tello González; el regidor del Concejo Provincial de Cajamarca, Juan Portal Pizarro, en representación del alcalde provincial de su ciudad; el teniente alcalde de la Municipalidad Provincial de Huancayo, Sandro Véliz Soto; y el subgerente de Planificación de dicha institución, David Pacheco Mendoza.
