Durante la reunión, en la que participaron el canciller Óscar Maúrtua y el ministro de Comercio Exterior y Turismo, Roberto Sánchez, el Jefe de Estado señaló que su Gobierno trabaja para generar condiciones adecuadas que permitan el desarrollo de inversiones, con reglas claras y con seguridad jurídica. “Tenemos la firme voluntad no solo de profundizar nuestros vínculos con la Unión Europea, sino de convocar las inversiones europeas para el desarrollo de las inmensas potencialidades del Perú”, indicó.

Castillo Terrones consideró importante que los proyectos se desarrollen “de manera sostenible, actuando con responsabilidad y equilibrio, con transparencia, con el debido cuidado del medio ambiente y respetando la cultura y los principios de las comunidades cercanas”.

El presidente Castillo agradeció el apoyo brindado por la Unión Europea a la lucha contra la COVID-19 en el Perú, facilitando la exportación de vacunas de plantas provenientes de sus países miembros y la colaboración, con 14 millones de euros, en favor del Ministerio de Salud en la etapa más crítica de la pandemia.

Asimismo, valoró la decisión de la Unión Europea de recomendar a sus Estados miembros el levantamiento de restricciones para los peruanos, como un reconocimiento al buen manejo realizado por las autoridades sanitarias del Perú. En otro momento, señaló que el Perú avanza con el proceso de reactivación económica, dinamizando las economías locales y regionales, ejecutando obras de infraestructura, generando empleos, impulsando la agricultura y apoyando a las pequeñas y medianas empresas.
