La ceremonia de presentación se llevó a cabo en la Plaza de San Pedro, con la presencia de altas autoridades del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, el Gobierno Regional de Huancavelica y PROMPERÚ, así como el artesano Manuel Breña, encargado de la creación de la Virgen María, San José y el niño Jesús, que celebraron este transcendental evento en el corazón de la Iglesia católica.

“Esta es una actividad de enorme trascendencia espiritual que ratifica las buenas relaciones con el Estado Vaticano en el contexto del bicentenario de nuestra independencia. Esta presentación motivará también el interés por los pueblos del Perú. Estamos seguros que el mundo observará con mayor atención el patrimonio cultural peruano y el talento de nuestros artesanos”, Amora Carbajal, presidenta ejecutiva de PROMPERÚ.

Esta acción es fruto del trabajo en conjunto entre el Gobierno Regional de Huancavelica, el Obispado de Huancavelica, el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, la Embajada del Perú ante el Estado Vaticano y el Ministerio de Comercio Exterior y Turismo (MINCETUR) mediante el trabajo especializado de PROMPERÚ.

SOBRE EL NACIMIENTO
Una de las principales características de este nacimiento es su diversidad de colores, que destaca en las piezas decoradas con la indumentaria típica de la comunidad Chopcca, declarada patrimonio cultural inmaterial de la nación en 2014 por su originalidad, representatividad e importancia dentro de la cultura andina.

Otro rasgo propio de este pesebre es la forma en que el niño es representado. Jesús tiene la apariencia de un niño “Hilipuska”, envuelto en una manta típica de Huancavelica. Asimismo, el tributo de los Reyes Magos contempla parte de la riqueza del Perú, sus productos agrícolas, superalimentos que exportamos al mundo.

Al ser un nacimiento rural, animales propios de la región huancavelica han sido incluidos en la representación como llamas, cóndores, vizcachas, parihuanas, alpacas, entre otros. Además, la escenografía evoca los paisajes y la arquitectura huancavelicana, utilizando materiales típicos de la zona como la piedra cancanlla y el ichu.

La celebración de la Navidad tiene una profunda representación en el arte peruano. Es una festividad religiosa cristiana que se introdujo desde la época virreinal y se ha mantenido a lo largo de su historia en innumerables formas de representación y variaciones iconográficas, siendo la imaginería una de ellas.
