Así lo verificó la viceministra de Transportes, Fabiola Caballero, quien supervisó hoy las labores que se realizan en la zona.

Desde Chinchero, Caballero anunció que en mayo se empezará la ejecución del terminal de pasajeros y la torre de control del futuro aeropuerto. La funcionaria precisó que el Ministerio de Transportes y Comunicaciones (MTC) ya entregó al consorcio Natividad Chinchero el área en el que se realizarán los estudios geotécnicos para completar los diseños de las citadas obras (terminal de pasajeros y torre de control).

“Hemos verificado que la obra está avanzando a buen paso. Queremos que los plazos se cumplan. Esta infraestructura aeroportuaria tendrá capacidad para recibir más de 5 millones de pasajeros por año. Será el segundo más grande del país y 8 veces más grande que el terminal Velasco Astete”, sostuvo Caballero.

Tras una reunión de trabajo que sostuvo con el gerente general del consorcio Natividad Chinchero, Deog- Woo Kwon, para conocer los avances y detalles de la obra, la viceministra informó que en noviembre se iniciará la construcción de la pista de aterrizaje, que tendrá 4 kilómetros de largo y 45 metros de ancho.

El proyecto demandará una inversión de 427 millones de dólares.

REACTIVACIÓN ECONÓMICA
La ejecución del aeropuerto de Chinchero generará un gran impacto económico al Cusco y a todo el Perú. Cuando esté funcionando generará más de 5000 empleos directos, beneficiando, de esta manera, a más de un millón de personas dedicadas al turismo, transporte, alimentación y hotelería.

Actualmente están trabajando en la obra 530 personas, de las cuales 258 son de Cusco, y de ellas 151 son de Chinchero.

Cabe recordar que el pasado 4 de enero, el Consorcio Natividad Chinchero, encargado de realizar los trabajos de movimiento de tierras entregó al MTC los sectores E2 y E3, que tienen una extensión de 36 hectáreas aproximadamente. En estos espacios se edificarán el terminal aéreo y la torre de control.

Los trabajos tienen un plazo de ejecución de 47 meses.
