Durante la reunión, que se realizará en el Palacio Rio Madeira, sede del Gobierno Federal, en la ciudad brasileña de Porto Velho, estado de Rondonia, los mandatarios abordarán temas de la agenda bilateral, como la conexión multimodal, el comercio y acceso a mercados y la cooperación fronteriza en materia de defensa, en seguridad, en aspectos técnicos y humanitarios y para enfrentar la pandemia de la COVID-19.

El encuentro será el primero que se lleve a cabo entre dos presidentes de Perú y Brasil en nueve años. Se debe precisar que Brasil es el primer socio comercial del Perú en la región, con el cual compartimos una frontera amazónica de 2,822 kilómetros.

Con esta reunión, el Perú ratifica su política de cooperación e integración con los países vecinos, sin condicionamientos ideológicos o políticos, con el objetivo de atender intereses compartidos, en favor del desarrollo y bienestar de las poblaciones de ambas naciones.

La comitiva que acompaña al presidente Castillo está integrada por los ministros de Relaciones Exteriores, César Landa; de Defensa, José Gavidia; y de Comercio Exterior y Turismo, Roberto Sánchez; entre otros funcionarios.
