“Lo que más nos interesa en este momento es rescatar a las personas desaparecidas”, aseguró el jefe de Estado tras recibir un reporte pormenorizado del trabajo que realizan las brigadas de rescate desde ayer, cuando sucedió el deslizamiento de tierra.

Durante un recorrido por la zona del desastre, el mandatario dialogó con los pobladores cuyas viviendas fueron afectadas por el deslizamiento y los exhortó a ponerse de acuerdo para ser reubicados a zonas seguras.

“Entiendo la necesidad, pero debemos ordenarnos, ya que no se puede vivir en riesgo. Podemos poner pistas, colegios, pero debemos tener en cuenta que viene la fuerza de la naturaleza y nos arrasa. Si hay un lugar donde pueden reubicarse, cuenten con el apoyo del Estado al cien por ciento”, manifestó.

En ese sentido, instó a los pobladores a convencer a sus vecinos y familiares de la necesidad de un traslado, porque no se puede contener la fuerza de la naturaleza cuando se ocupan zonas de riesgo.

“No podemos vivir en esta condición. De qué sirve poner un muro de contención aquí si viene el derrumbe por el otro lado del cerro, además, estamos cerca del río. Hay la predisposición del alcalde de Pataz, del Gobierno Regional de La Libertad, del Estado para ver cómo podemos reubicar a las familias. Los convoco a que salgamos de acá y vayamos a un lugar seguro donde habrá servicios, escuelas”, afirmó.

El jefe de Estado se trasladó esta mañana a la comunidad de Retamas acompañado por el ministro de Vivienda, Construcción y Saneamiento, Geiner Alvarado, con quien realizó un sobrevuelo de inspección de la zona del derrumbe. En el lugar también se encuentra desde ayer el ministro de Defensa, José Gavidia, quien está coordinando las acciones respectivas.

El mandatario informó que hasta este punto llegó también un contingente nuevo del Ejército para sumarse a las labores de rescate, así como personal del Seguro Social de Salud (EsSalud).

Se debe precisar que en la zona están trabajando, en cuatro frentes, brigadas conjuntas del Instituto Nacional de Defensa Civil (Indeci), de los bomberos voluntarios, de las empresas mineras y de la Policía Nacional.

DECLARARÁN EN EMERGENCIA RETAMAS
De otro lado, durante un encuentro con la población en el centro comunal del distrito de Parcoy, el presidente Castillo precisó que el Consejo de Ministros declarará en emergencia a la localidad de Retamas para garantizar toda la atención necesaria ante lo sucedido.

Pidió a la población llevar a cabo un empadronamiento de las familias de Retamas, con la participación de todas las organizaciones sociales y las autoridades, a fin de realizar un traslado a lugares seguros frente a emergencias naturales. “Primero es la vida de la población”, puntualizó.

“I understand the need, but we must order ourselves, since you cannot live in risk. We can put tracks, schools, but we must bear in mind that the force of nature comes and devastates us. If there is a place where you can relocate, count on the support of the State one hundred percent,” he said.

In that sense, he urged the residents to convince their neighbors and relatives of the need for a transfer, because the force of nature cannot be contained when risk areas are occupied.

“We cannot live in this condition. What’s the use of putting up a retaining wall here if the landslide comes from the other side of the hill, besides, we’re close to the river. The Mayor of Pataz, the Regional Government of La Libertad, and the State are willing to see how we can relocate the families. I call on you to get out of here and go to a safe place where there will be services, schools,” he said.

The head of state traveled this morning to the community of Retamas accompanied by the Minister of Housing, Construction and Sanitation, Geiner Alvarado, with whom he conducted an inspection overflight of the collapse area. The Minister of Defense, José Gavidia, who is coordinating the respective actions, has also been in the place since yesterday.

The president reported that up to this point a new contingent from the Army also arrived to join the rescue efforts, as well as personnel from the Social Health Insurance (EsSalud).

It should be noted that joint brigades of the National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci), volunteer firefighters, mining companies and the National Police are working in the area on four fronts.

RETAMAS WILL DECLARE AN EMERGENCY
On the other hand, during a meeting with the population in the community center of the Parcoy district, President Castillo specified that the Council of Ministers will declare an emergency in the town of Retamas to guarantee all the necessary attention in the face of what happened.

He asked the population to carry out a registration of the Retamas families, with the participation of all social organizations and authorities, in order to carry out a transfer to safe places in the face of natural emergencies. “First is the life of the population,” he said.
