El presidente Pedro Castillo y su homólogo Iván Duque acuerdan acciones de lucha contra la deforestación y la minería ilegal en la Amazonía.

Ambos mandatarios y sus delegaciones oficiales sostuvieron hoy una reunión bilateral en Los Ángeles, Estados Unidos, en el marco de la IX Cumbre de las Américas que se inaugura hoy a las 19:00 horas (hora peruana).

Durante el encuentro el jefe de Estado peruano invitó a su par colombiano a realizar una visita oficial al Perú en julio próximo. Duque expresó su disposición de visitar nuestro país para celebrar el bicentenario de relaciones diplomáticas entre las dos naciones y para realizar una nueva edición del gabinete binacional.

En la reunión de trabajo se reconoció también la importancia de fortalecer la seguridad alimentaria en la región, incluyendo el apoyo a los pequeños productores agrícolas; se revisaron los avances en la implementación de los acuerdos alcanzados en el VI Gabinete Binacional Perú-Colombia y se fortaleció la relación bilateral de cooperación e integración entre ambos países.

En su intervención, el presidente Castillo destacó la estrategia que impulsa su Gobierno de visitar las regiones del país, a través de los consejos de ministros descentralizados, mecanismo que permite atender problemáticas específicas de la población y acercarse a la ciudadanía.

Acompañaron al jefe de Estado en este encuentro, el ministro de Economía, Óscar Graham; el representante permanente del Perú ante la Organización de Estados Americanos (OEA), Harold Forsyth, y el excanciller Óscar Maúrtua.

Por el lado de Colombia, la delegación que acompañó al presidente Duque estaba conformada por la vicepresidenta de ese país y ministra de Relaciones Exteriores, Martha Lucía Ramírez de Rincón, y los ministros de Salud, Minas y Energía, Comercio y Ambiente.

Como parte de su agenda de trabajo en Los Ángeles, el presidente Castillo dialogará en las próximas horas con representantes de diversas empresas e intervendrá en la IV Cumbre Empresarial de las Américas y en la inauguración de la IX Cumbre de las Américas.
