Durante el gobierno del presidente Pedro Castillo, dicho programa ha financiado la conversión de más de 26 mil 500 vehículos livianos a GNV, lo que representa el 75% del total de unidades móviles que accedieron al gas natural desde el 2018. “Ahorro GNV” está presente en Lima, Callao, Ica, Junín, Cusco, Áncash, La Libertad, Lambayeque y Piura.
Para este 2022 se prevé convertir unos 70 mil vehículos livianos, para lo cual el Ejecutivo ha destinado un presupuesto de 270 millones de soles.
En el caso de los usuarios de provincias, el Programa contempla la asignación de un bono de descuento de 1,000 soles aplicable sobre el precio final de la conversión.
La conversión se realiza en talleres mecánicos autorizados por el Ministerio de Transportes y Comunicaciones. A la fecha, existen 170 talleres a nivel nacional, 140 de los cuales se encuentran en Lima y Callao.
Los vehículos convertidos son inspeccionados por una entidad certificadora que verifica que el proceso se haya realizado conforme a la normativa vigente, lo cual garantiza que las conversiones financiadas por el Estado sean de buena calidad y seguras. En esa línea y de acuerdo con especialistas del Ministerio de Energía y Minas, queda desvirtuado el hecho que el uso del GNV implique un daño o mayor desgaste del motor de la unidad móvil.
Es preciso destacar que con estas conversiones vehiculares se busca que los conductores accedan al combustible más económico y sostenible con que cuenta el país y no se vean afectados por la volatilidad y el alza de los precios internacionales del petróleo, que inciden en el precio del diésel, de la gasolina y del GLP a nivel local. Se estima que con el GNV se puede ahorrar entre 15 y 25 soles por galón.
El Programa Ahorro GNV forma parte de las acciones que el Gobierno impulsa para la masificación del uso de gas natural, de modo que todos los peruanos y peruanas puedan acceder a los beneficios que ofrece este recurso natural.

It is estimated that with CNG you can save between 15 and 25 soles per gallon.
The NGV Savings Program is part of the actions that the Government promotes for the widespread use of natural gas, so that all Peruvians can access the benefits offered by this natural resource.
