Agencia Peruana de Noticias PRENSAPERU.PE https://prensaperu.pe Twitter: @prensaperupe A fin de garantizar la seguridad alimentaria en un contexto de crisis internacional, el presidente del Consejo de Ministros, Aníbal Torres, dialogó en la víspera con la directora regional para Latinoamérica y el Caribe del Programa Mundial de Alimentos de Naciones Unidas (PMA), María Dolores Castro, a quien agradeció por el compromiso del programa para erradicar el hambre y la malnutrición.

“La asistencia técnica que brinda el PMA al Perú es invaluable, dado que nos permite fortalecer las capacidades y promover políticas públicas en materia de seguridad alimentaria y nutrición, a fin de alcanzar el objetivo Hambre Cero”, indicó el jefe del Gabinete Ministerial, quien destacó la asistencia alimentaria y humanitaria que brinda el PMA a la población más vulnerable del país, desde mayo del 2020 debido a la crisis del COVID-19, y por especial solicitud del gobierno peruano.

El titular de la Presidencia del Consejo de Ministros (PCM) también señaló que el Plan Estratégico Perú 2023-2026, elaborado por el PMA, será aprobado en noviembre próximo. Además, destacó las coincidencias que presenta el plan con la Segunda Reforma Agraria que impulsa el gobierno peruano y que incluye como aspecto central la seguridad alimentaria.

Por su parte, la directora regional para Latinoamérica y el Caribe del PMA enfatizó el compromiso del programa para trabajar con los gobiernos de la región que enfrentan condiciones desfavorables, a raíz de los efectos económicos de la pandemia y la guerra en Ucrania.

“En estos momentos, el PMA busca promover la compra a pequeñas y pequeños productores. Por ejemplo, estamos comprando cientos de toneladas de comida a cooperativas que se han asociado, sobre todo de mujeres, a quienes se les han brindado capacitaciones prácticas”, señaló.

En otro momento, Torres Vásquez sugirió la participación del PMA como invitado a la Comisión Multisectorial de Seguridad Alimentaria y Nutricional (COMSAN), a fin de aportar con su asesoramiento técnico y conocimiento del trabajo de campo.

Asimismo, destacó el aporte del PMA para la ejecución de proyectos en diversas partes del país, como Lima, Callao, Piura (Sechura), Áncash, Lambayeque, San Martín, Ayacucho, La Libertad, Tumbes, Loreto, Arequipa y Junín.

El encuentro contó con la participación del ministro de Desarrollo Agrario y Riego, Andrés Alencastre, y de la representante del PMA en Perú, Sarah Laughton, y de Aníbal Velásquez, oficial nacional senior de Políticas Públicas y Alianzas del Programa Mundial de Alimentos en Perú.

In addition, he highlighted the coincidences that the plan presents with the Second Agrarian Reform promoted by the Peruvian government and that includes food security as a central aspect.

For her part, the WFP regional director for Latin America and the Caribbean emphasized the program’s commitment to work with the governments of the region that face unfavorable conditions, as a result of the economic effects of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine.

“Currently, the WFP seeks to promote purchases from small and small producers. For example, we are buying hundreds of tons of food from cooperatives that have joined, especially women, who have been given practical training,” she said.

At another point, Torres Vásquez suggested the participation of the WFP as a guest in the Multisectoral Commission for Food and Nutritional Security (COMSAN), in order to contribute with its technical advice and knowledge of the field work.

He also highlighted the contribution of the WFP for the execution of projects in various parts of the country, such as Lima, Callao, Piura (Sechura), Áncash, Lambayeque, San Martín, Ayacucho, La Libertad, Tumbes, Loreto, Arequipa and Junín.
