Peru has stable macroeconomic variables and promotes investment, President Pedro Castillo told the UN.

Peruvian News Agency PRENSAPERU.PE https://prensaperu.pe Twitter: @prensaperupe The President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo Terrones, stressed that Peru is a country with stable macroeconomic variables and a promoter of private and public investment, for the benefit of those most in need.

During his speech at the 77th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization (UN), he asserted that this economic strength allows Peru to achieve significant recovery capacity that will help resume significant growth rates.

In this sense, he reported that his government approved the Plan to boost economic growth: “Impulse Peru”, in order to face global and regional trends and crises that are affecting the growth of countries worldwide.

“The central objective of this promotion plan is the generation of more employment with better quality and for this we are promoting and improving the conditions for national and foreign investment. Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises have a privileged place in this plan”, he remarked at the General Assembly Plenary venue.

The president explained that this economic measure is taken in the midst of the difficult global situation, caused by the negative effects of the pandemic on production processes and by the increase in poverty.

Although he said that the indicators of global growth are not encouraging, he affirmed that the government aims to achieve a growth of 3.3% in Peru in 2022, above the average goal for Latin America.

He specified that efforts should be emphasized to halve the number of poor people; eradicate extreme poverty; make zero hunger a reality to provide food security for all families. Also achieve efficient and universal health coverage for all; and ensure that all boys and girls complete free, equitable, and quality primary and secondary education.

“The new global pact must find its strength and dynamics in a renewed commitment, which focuses our political will and financial resources on meeting these goals of the 2030 agenda. The 2030 agenda is not only a program for peace, justice and equality at a global level but an essential part of our national agendas”, he pointed out.
