Premier Aníbal Torres: Gobierno apuesta por una minería competitiva e innovadora, y sobre todo social y ambientalmente sostenible para el país.

“El gobierno del presidente de la República, Pedro Castillo, propone un nuevo enfoque de desarrollo mediante el diálogo y las demandas específicas en los espacios de conflictos, debemos orientarnos a asegurar el cierre de brechas sociales, la diversificación productiva y la generación de oportunidades en esos territorios”, indicó durante la clausura del Perumin 35 que se desarrolló en la ciudad de Arequipa.

El premier señaló además que tanto el Estado como las empresas privadas deben ir de la mano para implementar estas mejoras, a través de la implementación de una gobernanza para la toma de decisiones y el establecimiento de acuerdos confiables entre el Ejecutivo, las empresas y las comunidades.

Asimismo, remarcó que el crecimiento económico de nuestro país se ha apoyado históricamente y de manera esencial en la actividad minera, en ese sentido, dijo que, en los últimos diez años, el sector minero aportó aproximadamente el 10% del Producto Bruto Interno (PBI) y casi el 60% de las exportaciones.

“Además, actualmente, por cada empleo directo en minería, se generan 8 empleos indirectos entre otras actividades, y solo en el mes de agosto de 2022, el sector reportó más de 240 mil trabajadores, superando el 5.9% del promedio anual 2021”, puntualizó el jefe de la PCM.

Aníbal Torres explicó también que este gobierno tiene el firme compromiso de fortalecer el desarrollo agrario y rural, así como otras actividades económicas claves para nuestras pequeñas y medianas empresas, y tenemos también el gran reto y la gran oportunidad de promover, en conjunto, el desarrollo de las actividades mineras en un marco de desarrollo sostenible.

“Es por ello, que invocamos el respeto del medioambiente, el cumplimiento de sus responsabilidades sociales, la generación de riqueza para todos los peruanos sin excepción y el respeto irrestricto a las normas vigentes”, señaló.

MINERÍA MÁS MODERNA Y RESPONSABLE
El titular de la PCM consideró que en días de desarrollo del Perumin 2022, se han discutido propuestas innovadoras para el desarrollo de una minería cada vez más moderna, responsable y sostenible.

“Como nos indica el “Plan Nacional de Acción sobre Empresas y Derechos Humanos 2021-2025”, que fue elaborado de manera colaborativa con el sector empresarial, en la minería se han adoptado notoriamente mecanismos de debida diligencia; no obstante, es preciso fortalecer la prevención y la gestión de los impactos ambientales, así como la prevención de la conflictividad social”, comentó.

El premier resaltó que el Perú está creciendo económicamente, pero también tenemos que desarrollar socialmente revisando los servicios vitales para las comunidades más necesitadas der nuestro país. Somos una sociedad de humanos que nos tenemos que preocupar también por aquellos conciudadanos que carecen de los derechos humanos más fundamentales.

Finalmente, sostuvo que el gobierno va a promover la exploración minera para que nuestro país cada vez sea más atractivo en el mundo; pues si no tenemos proyectos de exploración no hay minería en el futuro; sin embargo, la riqueza que genere la industria extractiva, debe visualizar en mejores oportunidades para sus zonas de influencia y para el país en general.

“Reafirmemos la posición del Perú como segundo productor de cobre en el mundo”, puntualizó.

The head of the PCM considered that in the days of development of Perumin 2022, innovative proposals have been discussed for the development of an increasingly modern, responsible and sustainable mining.

“As the “National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights 2021-2025” indicates, which was developed in collaboration with the business sector, due diligence mechanisms have been adopted in mining; however, it is necessary to strengthen the prevention and management of environmental impacts, as well as the prevention of social conflict,” he commented.

The premier stressed that Peru is growing economically, but we also have to develop socially, revising the vital services for the most needy communities in our country. We are a human society that we also have to worry about those fellow citizens who lack the most fundamental human rights.

Finally, he stated that the government is going to promote mining exploration so that our country becomes more and more attractive in the world; because if we don’t have exploration projects there is no mining in the future; however, the wealth generated by the extractive industry must provide better opportunities for its areas of influence and for the country in general.

“Let’s reaffirm Peru’s position as the second copper producer in the world,” he said.
