Según la agenda oficial, la ceremonia se realizará en la Plaza Grau del Callao y comenzará desde las 09:40 horas con el izamiento del Pabellón Nacional y el Himno Nacional del Perú. Posteriormente se realizará un minuto de silencio y luego se entonará el himno al héroe peruano Miguel Grau Seminario.
Participarán el presidente del Consejo de Ministros, Aníbal Torres Vásquez; el ministro de Defensa, Daniel Barragán Coloma; el presidente del Congreso de la República, José Williams Zapata; la presidenta del Poder Judicial, Elvia Barrios Alvarado; el presidente del Tribunal Constitucional, Francisco Morales Saravia; y el gobernador regional del Callao, Dante Mandriotti Castro.
También estarán presentes el jefe del Comando Conjunto de las Fuerzas Armadas, Manuel Gómez de la Torre; el comandante general de la Marina de Guerra, Alberto Alcalá Luna; el comandante general del Ejército, Walter Córdova Alemán; el comandante general de la Fuerza Aérea, Alfonso Artadi Saletti; y el comandante general de la Policía Nacional del Perú, Raúl Alfaro Alvarado.
La Marina de Guerra del Perú fue fundada el 8 de octubre de 1821, año de la independencia peruana. Es una institución tutelar al servicio del país con la responsabilidad constitucional de resguardar la soberanía e integridad territorial así como contribuir al desarrollo del país con su presencia en el ámbito marítimo, fluvial y lacustre.
El Combate de Angamos se produjo también un 8 de octubre pero de 1879. En aquella fecha, un grupo de hombres, tripulantes del monitor Huáscar al mando del Gran Almirante del Perú, Miguel Grau Seminario, fueron protagonistas de uno de los combates navales más memorables y gloriosos en la historia marítima de las naciones. La batalla concluyó con el deceso del “Caballero de los Mares”.

The Battle of Angamos also took place on October 8, but in 1879.
