La visita de Blinken al Perú se da en el marco de su participación en la 52º Asamblea General de la Organización de los Estados Americanos (OEA) que se realiza en nuestro país desde el 5 hasta el 7 de octubre.

El mandatario estuvo acompañado de una delegación conformada por el ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, César Landa Arroyo; el representante permanente del Perú ante las Naciones Unidas (ONU), Manuel Rodríguez Cuadros; el representante permanente del Perú ante la Organización de los Estados OEA, Harold Forsyth Mejía.

También estuvieron presentes el director general de América de la Cancillería, Carlos Chocano Burga; y el director de América del Norte del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, Miguel Samanez Bendezú; y el jefe del Gabinete del Despacho Ministerial de la Cancillería, Edgar Pérez Alván.

Por su parte, en la comitiva estadounidense participaron la embajadora de los Estados Unidos de América en el Perú, Lisa Kenna; el secretario adjunto para Asuntos del Hemisferio Occidental, Brian Nichols; el director senior del Consejo Nacional de Seguridad para el Hemisferio Occidental, Juan González.

Asimismo, acompañaron a Blinken el jefe adjunto de Personal del Departamento de Estado, Tom Sullivan; la asistente ejecutiva de la Secretaría de Estado, Courtney Beale; y el portavoz del Departamento de Estado, Ned Price.

Durante el encuentro se resaltó el compromiso de ambas naciones por trabajar a favor de la gobernabilidad democrática y la protección de los derechos humanos como principios que caracterizan a Perú y Estados Unidos.

Asimismo, el mandatario y el secretario de Estado coincidieron en erradicar la desigualdad de todo tipo, trabajar a favor de políticas de salud pública en toda la región y reafirmar el derecho a la educación.

En conferencia de prensa, el funcionario estadounidense remarcó que se cuenta con un plan de trabajo para alcanzar metas que beneficien a los pueblos en cuanto a la seguridad alimentaria, cambio climático, acceso a la energía, fertilizantes y control migratorio.

Asimismo, agradeció el compromiso del Perú con la realización de la 52° Asamblea General de la OEA de forma presencial y el recibimiento de diversas delegaciones de la región.

“Perú y EE.UU. trabajan bilateralmente en función de sus intereses y valores compartidos. Este compromiso fue clarísimo cuando me reuní con el canciller y el presidente Castillo”, destacó Blinken.

Blinken’s visit to Peru takes place within the framework of his participation in the 52nd General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) that takes place in our country from October 5 to 7.

The president was accompanied by a delegation made up of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, César Landa Arroyo; the permanent representative of Peru to the United Nations (UN), Manuel Rodríguez Cuadros; the permanent representative of Peru to the OAS Organization of States, Harold Forsyth Mejía.

Also present were the general director of America of the Foreign Ministry, Carlos Chocano Burga; and the director of North America of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Miguel Samanez Bendezú; and the head of the Cabinet of the Ministerial Office of the Foreign Ministry, Edgar Pérez Alván.

For its part, the US delegation included the ambassador of the United States of America in Peru, Lisa Kenna; the Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Brian Nichols; the senior director of the National Security Council for the Western Hemisphere, Juan González.

Blinken was also accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Department of State, Tom Sullivan; the executive assistant of the Secretary of State, Courtney Beale; and State Department spokesman Ned Price.

During the meeting, the commitment of both nations to work in favor of democratic governance and the protection of human rights as principles that characterize Peru and the United States was highlighted.

Likewise, the president and the secretary of state agreed to eradicate inequality of all kinds, work in favor of public health policies throughout the region and reaffirm the right to education.

At a press conference, the US official stressed that there is a work plan to achieve goals that benefit the people in terms of food security, climate change, access to energy, fertilizers and migration control.

Likewise, he thanked Peru for its commitment to holding the 52nd OAS General Assembly in person and for receiving various delegations from the region.

“Peru and the US work bilaterally based on their shared interests and values. This commitment was very clear when I met with the Foreign Minister and President Castillo,” Blinken highlighted.
