A través de la resolución suprema aprobada en el Consejo de Ministros, se dispone que la Comisión Multisectorial, que depende de la Presidencia del Consejo de Ministros, entregue un informe final con propuestas para el desarrollo de infraestructura de gas natural que permita la masificación en las referidas regiones que no tienen acceso a este recurso, en el marco de la Política Energética Nacional del Perú 2010-2040.
Cabe precisar que la Comisión Multisectorial fue creada por la resolución suprema N° 108-2021 PCM, y está conformada por la presidenta del Consejo de Ministros e integrada por los ministros de Energía y Minas, Economía y Finanzas, Comercio Exterior y Turismo, Justicia y Derechos Humanos y Relaciones Exteriores, así como el presidente de PetroPerú S.A.
Con esta nueva política de Gobierno de masificación e intensificación del gas natural, se busca poner este recurso al servicio de los peruanos a un precio justo a nivel nacional. Beneficiará a viviendas multifamiliares; instituciones sociales como los comedores, ollas comunes, postas médicas, hospitales y albergues, así como a actividades productivas como el comercio y el transporte.
