Durante su discurso, el jefe del Estado afirmó que es preciso poner en debate las necesidades que los peruanos con discapacidad sufren y las medidas que se requieren para aliviarlas.

La ceremonia se realizó esta tarde en el Gran Comedor de Palacio de Gobierno y en ella estuvieron presentes los 11 integrantes de la delegación peruana, el ministro de Educación, Juan Cadillo; el presidente del Instituto Peruano del Deporte (IPD), Gustavo San Martín; y la presidenta de la Asociación Nacional Paralímpica del Perú, Luisa Villar.

Al agradecer la presencia de los deportistas, el mandatario sostuvo que es muy significativo poder entregarles la bandera del Perú que simboliza el amor y cariño a la patria.

“El ejemplo de ustedes en estos juegos paralímpicos nos abre la posibilidad de cambiar nuestra visión sobre las personas con habilidades especiales”, anotó el presidente Castillo, quien entregó la bandera a la paratleta Angélica Espinoza.

“Tenemos un largo camino que recorrer en la búsqueda de integrar a los compatriotas que tienen discapacidades, que para nosotros no es un impedimento físico, no lo concebimos así, porque primero es la mentalidad, y que en la actualidad todavía algunos encuentran ciertas dificultades para acceder a un trato igualitario”, señaló.

Afirmó que “en nuestro gobierno no veremos eso, todos somos iguales y tienen el mayor de nuestro respaldo”.

Sostuvo que los integrantes de la representación peruana llevan mejor que nadie el pundonor de un pueblo esforzado y luchador que, cada día, trabaja por mejorar sus condiciones de vida y vela por sus familias. “Nuestro gobierno no puede ser indiferente ante estas necesidades”, subrayó.

LLAMADO A TODA LA SOCIEDAD
Tras destacar la entrega de los deportistas, el jefe del Estado formuló un llamado a toda la población para desterrar la idea que “nuestras hermanas y hermanos con habilidades diferentes no son capaces de trabajar o ser útiles a la sociedad”.

“En mi gobierno lucharemos para desterrar todo tipo de discriminación, buscaremos que no se sientan menos ante nadie”, aseguró y resaltó que los miembros de la delegación nacional “ya son ganadores, van como ganadores en la vida porque han superado los obstáculos que nuestra sociedad les ha colocado”.

“Éxitos, jóvenes, y lleven siempre en su fortaleza física y espiritual el coraje y el aliento de todos los peruanos. Sé que volverán victoriosos, con la recompensa de haber dejado una huella más en el hito de la historia del deporte peruano a nivel mundial. Muchas gracias por sumarse a este esfuerzo. Tienen aquí un gobierno y esta casa, que es la casa de todos, siempre estará abierta para todos y cada uno de ustedes”, remarcó el mandatario, quien finalizó su discurso con un fuerte ¡Viva el Perú!
