Al dirigirse a los pobladores y pescadores artesanales de la zona, sostuvo que la empresa tiene que pagar los daños que ha causado a la población y a la naturaleza.

“Desde acá ratifico el compromiso del Gobierno para no solamente sancionar, sino también hacer responsable a la empresa, que tiene que pagar los daños a la población y reparar el daño que ha hecho al mar, a la naturaleza”, manifestó.

Ante lo señalado por un poblador en el sentido que la empresa Repsol les ha dicho que les regalará canastas con víveres, el mandatario advirtió que con eso no se soluciona el problema que ha ocasionado.

“A todos y cada uno de ustedes les doy un abrazo de solidaridad y de compromiso como Gobierno. Sé la indignación que tienen”, expresó el presidente Castillo a los moradores y pescadores artesanales.

“Hemos venido a constatar (la situación) y por medio de los ministerios profundizamos la preocupación que tiene el Gobierno, junto a ustedes que conocen la realidad”, dijo.

En otro momento, al pedir al Congreso de la República formar una comisión para que trabaje con el Poder Ejecutivo a propósito del derrame de petróleo, el jefe del Estado instó a las autoridades del país a defender no solo el mar, sino también a luchar contra la contaminación ambiental.

El mandatario realizó la inspección acompañado por los ministros del Ambiente, Rubén Ramírez; y de la Producción, Jorge Luis Prado.

“We have come to verify (the situation) and through the ministries we deepen the concern that the Government has, together with you who know the reality,” he said.

At another time, when asking the Congress of the Republic to form a commission to work with the Executive Branch on the oil spill, the head of state urged the country’s authorities to defend not only the sea, but also to fight against environmental pollution.

The president carried out the inspection accompanied by the ministers of the Environment, Rubén Ramírez; and Production, Jorge Luis Prado.
