El Mandatario destacó el compromiso del gobernador regional de Ayacucho, Carlos Rua, con la masificación de gas. En ese sentido, adelantó que, en el breve plazo, la autoridad regional se reunirá con las empresas privadas que deseen participar en la distribución para las demás ciudades del país. ​De acuerdo con el Ministerio de Energía y Minas, el proyecto de masificación de gas plantea utilizar las instalaciones existentes y fuentes de suministros disponibles para facilitar los estudios, permisos para la construcción y operación del servicio público de gas natural en las regiones de Ayacucho, Cusco, Ucayali, Huancavelica, Junín, Apurímac y Puno.

“Hemos venido al lugar de los hechos y en esta planta de distribución la válvula que debería llevar gas a los pueblos está estancada. Es una pena que llegue gas a esta zona y no se distribuya a los hermanos de Huamanga pese a que están a pocos metros”, manifestó. Reunión con autoridades locales En otro momento, el Presidente lideró un encuentro con autoridades locales en el que participó el alcalde de Huamanga, Yuri Gutiérrez, y el gobernador Carlos Rua. Posterior a ello, participó de la firma de la carta de intención entre el Ministerio de Desarrollo Agrario y Riego (Midagri) y el Gobierno Regional de Ayacucho, para el lanzamiento de un Programa de Extensión Agraria bajo un nuevo modelo descentralizado, como parte de los lineamientos de la Segunda Reforma Agraria.
