El Embajador Forsyth destacó que su país se siente honrado de presidir el Consejo Permanente y que asume esa responsabilidad con su “tradicional vocación solidaria e integracionista y una adhesión invariable a los valores y principios compartidos de promoción y defensa de la democracia, la plena vigencia y el respeto de los derechos humanos, el afianzamiento de la paz y la seguridad y el desarrollo integral y sostenible de nuestros pueblos”.
El nuevo Presidente del Consejo Permanente concluyó resaltando que “esta es la primera sesión ordinaria que se celebra durante el mandato del presidente Pedro Castillo y me es honroso transmitir el compromiso irrenunciable del nuevo mandatario peruano con la Carta Democrática Interamericana”.
En tanto, el Representante Permanente de Antigua y Barbuda, Ronald Sanders, quien fue el encargado de traspasarle el mando del Consejo, manifestó: “Estoy seguro de que, dado su amplia experiencia y conocimientos, este Consejo se beneficiará enormemente de los conocimientos y las habilidades diplomáticas del Embajador”.
El Representante Permanente del Uruguay, Washington Abdala, ocupa la Vicepresidencia del Consejo.
