“Tenemos el enorme reto de preservar y defender la vida frente a la pandemia actual y a los problemas crónicos que nos han dejado doscientos años de olvido, de indiferencia y de falta de planificación del sistema sanitario. La salud de los peruanos no puede esperar. La salud no debe ser jamás un negocio, tampoco un privilegio”, subrayó.

Durante su intervención, el mandatario aseveró que desde el primer día de su gestión “venimos desplegando el máximo esfuerzo para contener la pandemia de la COVID-19 y sus variantes” y remarcó que “es una acción permanente que consiste en fortalecer el primer nivel de atención e implementar nuestros establecimientos de salud, para que no falten camas, oxígeno, medicinas ni personal, entre otros servicios”.

El mayor esfuerzo es el de los médicos, enfermeras y del personal técnico que, con su dedicación, han permitido aplicar más de 52 millones de dosis de vacunas que representa a más del 80 por ciento de la población objetivo inmunizada, de los cuales más de cinco millones corresponden a la tercera dosis, resaltó.

Sin embargo –dijo-, se encontró un sistema de salud con una enorme deuda de servicios y en una situación de embalse que proviene desde antes de la pandemia, debido al abandono y la falta de atención por parte de las gestiones anteriores. “Miles de trabajadores, asegurados y no asegurados, hacen largas colas por obtener una cita y esperan meses por una intervención quirúrgica. Eso tiene que terminar”, enfatizó.

El presidente Castillo destacó que la población asegurada de Lima Norte y el Callao podrá contar con servicios de salud en mejores condiciones, con el equipamiento, las instalaciones y el personal calificado que les ofrece el moderno nosocomio inaugurado, el cual se ubica en San Martín de Porres y cuenta con 112 camas distribuidas en ocho módulos de hospitalización, seis de ellos destinados a pacientes leves de la COVID-19 y los otros dos al servicio de pacientes críticos.

“Nos comprometimos ante el pueblo peruano a fortalecer el sistema hospitalario, estamos cumpliendo y lo vamos a seguir haciendo”, aseveró y anunció la próxima puesta en funcionamiento de los hospitales bicentenario en Chao, en La Libertad; así como en Chota y Cutervo, en Cajamarca.

Los de Chao y Chota están listos para ser inaugurados en los próximos días, cuentan con 56 y 42 camas de hospitalización, respectivamente, y están equipados para realizar cirugías de alta complejidad, diagnóstico por imágenes y atender partos, entre otros servicios urgentes para la población. Cada uno beneficiará a más de 100 mil asegurados y derechohabientes en sus respectivas jurisdicciones, destacó.

HOSPITALES DE ALTA COMPLEJIDAD
Al indicar que están en marcha dos hospitales de alta complejidad en Piura y Chimbote para llevar los servicios de salud ahí donde están los trabajadores y las empresas que generan el progreso y el desarrollo del país, detalló que ambos proyectos se ejecutarán con una inversión de más de mil millones de soles, para atender a un millón 300 mil asegurados.

Los proyectos, que se ejecutarán bajo la modalidad de asociación público privada, se encuentran en la fase de concurso internacional con Proinversión. La buena pro se otorgará en abril de este año y las obras estarán concluidas en octubre del 2025, especificó.

Asimismo, anunció que en los próximos días se iniciará la construcción de un hospital de alta complejidad en Puno, en un terreno de 40 mil metros cuadrados, con una inversión de 376 millones de soles.

El nosocomio tendrá 190 camas, 41 consultorios y lo más moderno en equipamiento con cinco salas de operaciones; beneficiará a cerca de 235 mil asegurados y su puesta en servicio se prevé para agosto del 2024, señaló.

“Estas son las obras que necesita el pueblo y se tienen que ejecutar porque el Gobierno así lo ha determinado. Al margen del ruido político, hay que trabajar entregándole salud y educación de calidad al pueblo, ya no como servicios, sino como derechos constitucionales”, puntualizó.

En la ceremonia de inauguración participaron los ministros de Salud, Hernando Cevallos; y de Desarrollo e Inclusión Social, Dina Boluarte; el gobernador regional del Callao, Dante Mandriotti; el alcalde distrital de San Martín de Porres, Julio Chávez; y el presidente ejecutivo de EsSalud, Mario Carhuapoma.
